Moving from Chatfuel to ClerkChat

Chatfuel lives on Facebook and Instagram. Moving costs you the flows you built, and gains you two surfaces Chatfuel never had: a widget on your own site, and a page we host for you.

Realistic time
An afternoon
The catch
You gain channels

What you lose

The question everyone actually has, answered first.

  • Blocks, flows and sequencesNo importer exists and there is no equivalent structure to receive them.
  • Subscriber lists and attributesChatfuel's audience data and user attributes stay with Chatfuel. Export what you need before cancelling.
  • Broadcast messagingWe do not send campaigns. If Chatfuel is how you reach your subscriber list, we do not replace that.

What carries across

  • The Facebook and Instagram connectionsReauthorise the same pages and profiles with us. Nothing about the accounts themselves changes.
  • The answers your blocks containEach block holds a real answer. Written out as plain text they become the training material, and the writing is the migration.

How to do it

  1. 1
Write out what your blocks sayGo through the flows and turn each answer into a sentence or two of documentation.
  2. 2
Train and test on the hosted pageBefore touching any Meta connection, check the agent answers well on a page only you know about.
  3. 3
Reconnect Facebook and InstagramAuthorise the same accounts. You can leave Chatfuel connected while you compare.
  4. 4
Take the surfaces you did not havePut the widget on your website, and publish the hosted page for your bio or a QR code. This is the part of the move that adds rather than replaces.

What catches people out

  • A website widget may change where your volume comes fromBusinesses that have only ever had social channels often find site questions arrive immediately once a widget exists. Budget a little time to watch what comes in and fill the gaps in your training material.
  • Meta's messaging windows apply whoever you useThe rules about when you may message someone outside a twenty-four hour window are Meta's, not the vendor's. Nothing about switching changes them.

When not to move

If any of these describe you, staying with Chatfuel is the right call and we would rather say so than sell you a migration you regret.

  • Broadcasting to a subscriber list is your main use
  • Your flows are tied to advertising campaigns with scripted, measured paths
  • You have no website and no use for a hosted page, so the extra surfaces buy you nothing

Questions

Can I keep my Chatfuel flows?
No. There is no import path and no equivalent structure. The practical approach is writing out what each block says and training on that text.
What do I gain by moving?
A website widget and a page we host for you, neither of which Chatfuel offers. For a business whose customers also look for a site, that is a channel you did not have.
