Switching from Woztell

Moving from Woztell to ClerkChat

Woztell is a direct WhatsApp Business Solution Provider, so this move means porting a number between providers. It also means giving up capabilities that come from that standing, and for some businesses that alone settles it.

The catch
Check the Meta features first

What you lose

The question everyone actually has, answered first.

  • The WhatsApp Groups API, Calling API and Meta Business AgentThese come from Woztell being a direct Business Solution Provider since 2019. We do not offer them, and no amount of setup on our side will produce them. If you use any of the three, check this before anything else.
  • Business App Co-ExistenceIf you are using Co-Existence to keep WhatsApp on a handset while still using the API, that arrangement ends. Moving means the number runs on Cloud API and the phone app stops being usable for it.
  • Trees, nodes and everything in the bot builderThere is no importer and nothing equivalent to import into. Global nodes, priority groups, conditions and locale groups have no counterpart here.
  • The unlimited-agent inbox and round-robin assignmentWoztell gives unlimited seats on every plan, including free. We answer and escalate rather than routing a queue between agents, so a staffed team loses the thing they were using.
  • Your contact database and MAU historyExport contacts before you cancel. Contact records and notes stay with Woztell.

What carries across

  • Your WhatsApp numberWoztell registers your number with Meta as your provider. It can be migrated to another provider and your customers keep messaging the same number.
  • Instagram and Messenger connectionsThese reauthorise through Meta rather than transferring, so it is a matter of connecting the same accounts to us. Minutes, not days.
  • Your knowledge base documentsIf you uploaded FAQs, catalogues or support docs for their ChatGPT integration, that is exactly the material we train on. Upload the same files.
  • Whatever your agents were typing repeatedlyQuick replies and saved responses are strong training sources, because they are answers your team already approved.

How to do it

  1. 1
Check the three Meta features firstGroups, Calling and Meta Business Agent. If any of them is load-bearing, stop here — this is not a migration, it is losing a capability.
  2. 2
Work out what happens to your depositWoztell holds a prepaid deposit against variable costs and replenishes it automatically. Ask them what happens to the remaining balance on cancellation, and stop the auto-replenishment before you start.
  3. 3
Export contacts, quick replies and knowledge base filesDo this while the account is live. The knowledge base documents are the ones that save you the most time on our side.
  4. 4
Train the agent and test on the hosted pageGet it answering your real questions before any number moves. Nothing here is irreversible yet.
  5. 5
Reconnect Instagram and Messenger, and add TelegramThese run in parallel with Woztell, so you can compare on live messages. Telegram is a channel Woztell does not offer, so it is new ground rather than a swap.
  6. 6
Migrate the WhatsApp number lastThis is the step with an interruption. Do it once everything else is proven, in a genuinely quiet window.

What catches people out

  • Your OpenAI bill does not end automaticallyWoztell's AI runs on your own OpenAI or Azure key, which means you hold that account directly. Cancelling Woztell does not close it. Check whether anything else is using that key before you revoke it, then stop paying for it.
  • Co-Existence users lose the phone app, and often do not expect toThis is the sharpest surprise in this migration. If your team has been answering from the WhatsApp app on a handset while Woztell handled the API side, that ends. Make sure whoever uses that phone knows before the number moves.
  • Find the two-step verification PIN before you startA number with a WhatsApp two-step PIN set cannot be migrated without it. This stalls more provider moves than anything else.
  • Compare the whole cost, not the subscriptionWoztell's real cost is the plan plus the deposit drawdown plus WhatsApp message charges with their markup plus your OpenAI usage. Comparing our plan against their headline plan alone will give you the wrong answer in both directions.

When not to move

If any of these describe you, staying with Woztell is the right call and we would rather say so than sell you a migration you regret.

  • You use the WhatsApp Groups API, the Calling API, or Meta Business Agent
  • Business App Co-Existence is how your team works, and keeping WhatsApp on a phone matters
  • You have a large agent team, where unlimited seats on every plan is hard to beat
  • Your conversations are procedural and the tree you built describes them accurately
  • You rely on their support or implementation team in Spanish, Portuguese, Chinese or Arabic

Questions

Do I lose my WhatsApp number if I leave Woztell?
No. The number is yours and it can be migrated between providers. You need access to the WhatsApp Business Account and the two-step verification PIN if one is set. There is a short interruption during the handover.
What happens to my prepaid deposit?
That is a question for Woztell, and worth asking before you give notice. Their deposit tops itself up automatically when it falls below a fifth of its value, so turn that off first or you may fund it again on the way out.
Can I import my Woztell chatbot flows?
No, and there is nothing to import them into. We answer from your documents rather than from a tree. The upside is that the knowledge base files you already uploaded to Woztell work here unchanged.
I use Co-Existence — what changes?
You would lose it. Co-Existence lets you keep WhatsApp on a phone alongside the API, and it depends on Woztell's provider standing. After migrating, the number runs on Cloud API and the handset app is no longer usable for it.
