An Omnichat alternative for businesses that are not a retail chain
Omnichat is a serious product built for a specific buyer: multi-store retail brands in Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore and Malaysia, binding customers to shop assistants and tracking commission. If that is you, they are almost certainly the better choice. If you are a clinic or a groomer, their entry plan starts at ten thousand contacts.
You are probably comparing these because
- You asked for a price and were sent a demo booking form
- Their smallest plan is larger than your entire customer base
- You want to point the agent at your website rather than upload spreadsheets
- You do not have physical shops, sales associates or commission to track

A closer look at Omnichat
Their smallest plan is bigger than most businesses
Omnichat publishes four tiers and not one currency figure. The entry plan carries ten thousand contacts and three users; the next is twenty-five thousand, then a hundred thousand. Their FAQ states that only annual subscriptions are offered, and every button is a quote request.
That is not a criticism of the product, it is a description of who it is for. Ten thousand contacts is a retail chain, not a dental practice. A business with four hundred customers asking for a quote on that plan is asking the wrong company, and both sides work that out three emails later.
The honest counterpoint is that enterprise buyers often prefer this. A procurement process wants a contract, a named account manager, onboarding support and an ISO 27001 certificate, all of which Omnichat has and we do not. Published self-serve pricing is a feature for a clinic and a nuisance for a purchasing department.
How the agent learns is the practical difference day to day
Omnichat's AI agents are grounded in documents you upload, and their documentation lists the accepted formats as CSV, DOC, DOCX and PDF. It also notes the system extracts text only and does not read images. The recommended format for a support agent is a spreadsheet of question and answer pairs; for a sales agent, a spreadsheet of products with names, image URLs, descriptions, prices and store links.
That is a perfectly workable way to build an accurate agent, and for a retailer with a clean product feed it is arguably more precise than crawling. It is also a maintenance job: when a price changes, the spreadsheet changes. We crawl your site and read your documents, so the agent follows the pages you were updating anyway.
Worth checking directly with them before deciding: their own documentation at the time of writing lists the AI agent card as available on Facebook, Instagram, LINE and WhatsApp, with webchat marked coming soon. If the website widget is where you need the agent, ask them where that stands.
The retail layer is real, and we have nothing like it
Omnichat binds a customer to a named sales associate by QR code or link, tracks which orders that person influenced, and attributes revenue for commission. Store managers see the team; a clerk sees only their own customers. There is roster management, a store-staff bulk send, and native iOS and Android apps so associates work from a phone on the shop floor.
On top of that sit things we do not build at all: staff pre-filling an order inside a WhatsApp thread, WhatsApp Catalog and Payment, concurrent one-to-one video shopping calls, coupon distribution with redemption tracking, and five native gamification modules including a spin wheel and a scratch card.
If you run shops with staff whose commission depends on attribution, this is the whole product and nothing in this comparison should persuade you otherwise.
LINE and WeChat are the channels that decide this in Asia
Omnichat is a LINE Biz-Solutions technology partner at Gold tier, with rich menus, LINE MINI App integration, LINE group chat, LINE Notification Messages and the ability to push audience segments into LINE Ads. They support WeChat as a first-class channel too.
We support neither. For a business in Taiwan, Japan, Hong Kong or Thailand, that is not a gap in a feature table, it is the market. Their documentation is Traditional Chinese first, which tells you plainly where their centre of gravity is.
The reverse is also true and less often said: they do not support Telegram, and their own site does not list it anywhere. If your customers are on Telegram, the comparison runs the other way.
When Omnichat is the better choice
Omnichat is built for a buyer we do not serve, and in these cases they are clearly right. We would rather say so than pretend the products overlap more than they do.
- You need LINE or WeChat, which we do not support at all
- You run physical stores and need customers bound to named sales staff with commission attribution
- You want orders placed inside the chat, WhatsApp Catalog and Payment, or one-to-one video shopping
- You operate in Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia or Thailand and want local support and offices
- You need coupon and gamification modules, or a customer data platform joined to your POS
- Procurement wants an annual contract, onboarding support and an ISO 27001 certificate
ClerkChat and Omnichat questions
- How much does Omnichat cost?
- They do not publish figures. Their pricing pages show tiers by contact volume — 10,000, 25,000 and 100,000 — with a quote request on each, and their FAQ states that only annual subscriptions are offered. Platform fees also exclude WhatsApp and LINE message costs, which are billed on top.
- What is the actual difference between ClerkChat and Omnichat?
- Buyer size and product shape. Omnichat is a retail chat-commerce CRM for multi-store brands in Asia, with sales attribution, coupons, gamification and a customer data platform. ClerkChat is an agent that reads your content and answers on the channels your customers use. If you have shops and staff to attribute, they are built for that. If you are a small business answering questions, we are.
- Can Omnichat's AI read my website?
- Their documentation describes the knowledge base as file uploads in CSV, DOC, DOCX or PDF, and does not describe crawling a site. ClerkChat crawls your site and reads uploaded documents, so the agent follows pages you already maintain.
- Does ClerkChat support LINE or WeChat?
- No. Omnichat covers both properly, with Gold-tier LINE partner status. If either channel matters to your customers, they cover ground we do not.
- Can a small business use Omnichat?
- Their smallest published tier is 10,000 contacts and 3 users on an annual contract, which is larger than most small businesses ever need. They do offer a 14-day trial, so the honest answer is to ask them for a quote and compare it against a plan you can see the price of.
