Moving from Tidio to ClerkChat

Tidio is two products sharing a widget: live chat staffed by people, and Lyro answering automatically as a paid add-on. Which half you actually use decides whether this move makes sense.

Realistic time
An hour or two
The catch
Depends on live chat

What you lose

The question everyone actually has, answered first.

  • Live chat with human operatorsTidio's operator console, visitor presence and typing indicators have no equivalent here. We answer and escalate rather than staffing a chat.
  • Tidio flowsRule-based flows do not transfer. Most of what they do is covered by an agent reading your content, but the structure itself does not move.
  • Visitor tracking and on-site behaviour dataTidio watches who is on which page. We do not, and nothing about that carries over.
  • Chat transcriptsExport anything you need for records before cancelling.

What carries across

  • Whatever you gave LyroLyro trains on your help content and question-and-answer pairs, and so do we. The same material works without modification.
  • Your help centre articlesThese are the strongest source either product can have. Point us at the same URLs.
  • The widget positionBoth embed with a script tag, so the widget stays where visitors expect it.

How to do it

  1. 1
Work out which half you actually useLook at the last month. If most conversations were handled by a person in the Tidio console, you are buying live chat, and we do not replace that.
  2. 2
Reuse the Lyro training materialWhatever you already prepared for Lyro works here unchanged. This is usually most of the setup.
  3. 3
Compare on your real questionsTest both on the questions you get most. Because the source material is the same, differences come down to reach rather than accuracy.
  4. 4
Add the messaging channelsConnect WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger or Telegram. This is what the Tidio widget could not do.
  5. 5
Swap the snippet and cancel at period endReplace the script tag, watch for a few days, then close the account.

What catches people out

  • Compare against your Lyro add-on cost, not the base planLyro is billed separately with its own conversation allowance. Teams often compare our price against Tidio's base plan and reach the wrong answer. Add the Lyro line before deciding.
  • Losing live chat is a real loss if you use itSome businesses genuinely need a person available on the site during business hours. If that describes you, the honest answer is to keep Tidio, or to run us on the messaging channels and leave Tidio on the website.

When not to move

If any of these describe you, staying with Tidio is the right call and we would rather say so than sell you a migration you regret.

  • Human live chat during business hours is central to how you sell or support
  • You rely on visitor tracking to see who is on the site and intervene
  • Your conversations happen on the website and nowhere else

Questions

Does my Lyro training data transfer?
Not as a file, but the underlying material is the same: help articles and question-and-answer pairs. Point us at the same sources and you are most of the way there.
Do I lose live chat?
Yes. We answer automatically and escalate; we do not provide an operator console for staffing a chat. If a person being available on the site matters, keep Tidio for that.
How do the costs compare?
Compare our plan against Tidio's base plan plus the Lyro add-on, since Lyro is what does the automatic answering. Comparing against the base plan alone understates Tidio's cost for the job we actually do.
