No website required

Every chatbot assumes you have a website. A lot of businesses do not.

Widgets embed into a site. If your business runs on an Instagram profile, a WhatsApp number and word of mouth, there is nowhere to put one — and the tools everybody recommends have nothing to offer you.

What they actually ask

  • Do you have a website I can look at?
  • What are your prices?
  • Where are you based?
  • Are you open on Sunday?
  • How do I book?

What makes this different from any other business

The widget-first products cannot serve you at all

Chatbase, Tidio, Crisp and Intercom are all built around a script tag that goes into a site you own. Without one there is no integration to complete. This is not a gap in their onboarding, it is the shape of the product, and it is why a search for a chatbot as a website-less business turns up nothing usable.

You already have a shopfront, it is just not a domain

An Instagram profile, a Google Business listing, a WhatsApp number on a van. Those are where customers find you, and each one takes a link. A hosted page gives you a link that leads to something that answers, which is the piece that was missing rather than the whole website you have been told you need.

A page you do not maintain beats a site you never build

Plenty of small businesses have been meaning to get a website for three years. The honest reason it has not happened is that it is a project with hosting, copy and upkeep attached. A hosted agent page needs none of that: you write what you know, and the page exists.

Setting it up

  1. 1
Write down what you would put on a websitePrices, hours, where you are, what you do, how to book. It does not have to be polished — it has to be accurate.
  2. 2
Publish the hosted pageYou get a link. Nothing to host, nothing to maintain, no domain to buy.
  3. 3
Put the link everywhere you already areInstagram bio, Google Business profile, WhatsApp away message, a printed QR code on the counter or the van.

What it does not do

  • It is a page with an agent on it, not a website — there is no shop, no gallery and no blog
  • It will not rank in Google the way a real site would; it is a destination for people you send
  • It answers from what you write, so a business with nothing written down has work to do first

Questions

Do I really not need a website?
Not for this. The agent answers in WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger and Telegram directly, and the hosted page gives you a link for anywhere that asks for one. If you later build a site, the same agent embeds into it.
Will the hosted page get me found on Google?
No, and it would be dishonest to imply otherwise. It is somewhere to send people who already found you, not a substitute for a site built to rank. Being found still comes from your Instagram, your Google Business listing and word of mouth.
Does the page carry your branding?
On the free and lower plans, yes. Removing it is available on the Pro plan if you want the page to be purely yours.
